I concur with xoxcutiexox on the facial approach, but additionally: What colors your outfit? I understand that various gray frosts, primarily metallic shades (e.g. Orly Neue Neutrals lacquer in #40646 Too Much Bubbly Dazzling Shimmer or Permanent Collection in #40058 Orly Platinum Dazzling Shimmer), are the latest trend in nail colors, but they don't work with every dress, neither with certain skin tones. A shade that coordinates with your skin tone would be a usable fallback measure; likewise the French manicure, which I understand fits certain nail shapes particularly well.

If a silvery look on a budget is what you need, Sally Hansen supports it in one line of specialty paint: Nail Prisms in #25 White Diamond Frost.

Addendum: Midnight blue allows several options for the nails. Orly has several shades that should coordinate nicely, including #40543 Aqua Marine Bliss Smooth Glitter, #40622 It's Up to Blue Shimmer, #40661 Blue Collar Creme, and #40663 Witch's Blue Smooth Glitter; #40543 and #40622 coordinate with the previously-mentioned metallics trend in nail color in addition to the dress. If budget is an issue, Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in #23 Marine Scene Frost will substitute nicely for Orly #40622.
