Formal event coming up, i have a black dress, strapless, gathered at bust then drops down under bust(so baby doll style dress i guess), a champaign coloured ribbon with a bow around the waist, and goes to my knees. I have long dark brown hair and im going to curl it.

Partner is wearing black suit, black shirt, and white tie :s is this going to look weird?

What can i do to my outfit to brighten it up?? (shoes, accessories?)

I dont wanna feel plain

You can't go wrong with a black dress. You may suggest your partner to change his tie to something not pure white, but black suit, black shirts are all fine.

And no, you don't want to brighten it up unless it's a day event.

since you're wearing a strapless dress you can wear a necklace and also make sure you have the perfect shoes peep toe will look great and very high heels and do your toes dark with Opi colors like Lincoln park after dark.

Your dress sounds lovely- the thing is that it also sounds to be as though the ribbon and the gatherings are accessories enough. The worst thing you could ever do is to OVER do the outfit. I would suggest glamming up your outfit with some studs and a sweeping up-do with your hair that will show off your collarbone in that strapless dress. I know you feel plain now when you put it on, but with your hair and make up done, you will be the classiest woman there. As for your shoes, go with gold. It will compliment your champagne ribbon and your black dress to a tee. Feel good about simplicity- i'm sure that no matter what you will look like a dream!
